Dietary supplement is defined a product which is consumed orally and contains “nutritional elements” in order to fulfill the diet of a person.
The “nutritional elements” of these products include: vitamins, trace elements, herbs, amino acids, enzymes etc. {Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), 1994}.
